Part 2: Trip to Japan – Neat Experiences at the World Green Tea Festival

Posted on October 07, 2014 by Michiko Ono

I had some neat experiences at the World Green Tea Festival in Japan. I picked the first flush tea leaves in the tea field. I appreciate even more how much work and skills are required to produce green tea!

The best picking must take 2 leaves and 1 bud … like this.

Make sure to pick the right tea leaf – underneath the new tea leaf is the last year tea branch which is old and too hard to make green tea.

You can go to the tea field and experience picking some green tea leaves. Some tourists joined us to pick Japanese green tea!

A little girl with the traditional tea farmer costume was very focused on picking tea – very cute and she will become a good tea farmer!

I picked this bag of green tea!
