Japanese Black Tea Smoked with Whiskey Cask Wood (Loose - 50g)
This is the Silver Medal Winner of the 2014 International Tea Tasting Competition, Japanese Black Tea Smoked with Whiskey Cask Wood, produced by the Matsumoto tea farm in Shimada city, Shizuoka Prefecture. Mr. Matsumoto smokes his Japanese black tea using wood from Japanese whisky casks. The wood comes from the award winning Ichiro Distillery in Chichibu, Saitama. The smokiness of the tea is light, compared to the famous Chinese smoked black tea called ‘Lapsang souchong’. It’s not overwhelming and has a mild fruity flavour with notes of oak.
