Gyokuro (Loose - 50 g)
A high-end, handpicked tea from the Yame region which is famous for top quality gyokuro. Picked once a year from the best leaves, this dento-hon-gyokuro is grown using the traditional harvesting style and tools. Concentrated, rich, complex “umami” flavor. This unique delicious tea balances a slight bitterness and sweetness with an asparagus-like flavor and soup stock consistency and texture. This is the espresso of green tea.
Cultivar: Yabukita, Saemidori, Okuidori (blend)
Region: Hoshino Seicha-en, Fukuoka Prefecture
- Tea: 3 gm or heaping 1 tsp
- Water: 20 mL (for milder flavour, make with 50-60 ml water) at 50-60 °C
- Steep: 2.5 min.
To make cold brewed tea:
- Tea: 2-3 tbsp (10-15 gm)
- Water: 1000 mL (4 cups) at room temperature
- Steep: 2-3 hrs. to over night in the fridge
