Uji Premium Gyokuro – Kiwame-cha (Loose - 50g)
Superior grade, handpicked leaves, Samidori and Ujihikari cultivars, are used for this fine gyokuro a specialty of the Uji region. Gyokuro is grown in shaded tea fields using traditional techniques. It has a natural sweetness like green peas and a clean vegetable umami flavour – a light seaweediness. It’s sweeter and fruiter than our other premium gyokuro from Yame, Fukuoka.
Cultivar: Samidori, Ujihikari (blend)
Region: Yoshida Meicha-en, Kyoto Prefecture
Tea: 5 gm or 1 tbsp
Water: 35 mL at 40-50 °C
Steep: 1-2 min.
To make cold brewed tea:
Tea: 20 gm or 4 tbsp
Water: 1000 mL (4 cups) at room temperature
Steep: 2-3 hrs. to over night in the fridge
